About

This site is dedicated to all persons battling corn allergies – or any food allergy – but especially corn.  Corn is a particularly insiduous food product, because it used so prevalently in our food and non-food industries.

Andrea and I (Tina) have been friends since high school – way too long ago to state the number of years – but just know it’s been plenty long enough.  This past Christmas, we were spending time together – well actually I was adopting one of Andrea’s homeless dogs.  We discovered we share a common demon – corn.  I have been allergic to corn since childhood, which is a bit embarassing because I am Native American.  Everytime I mention my allergy to corn, I get the quizzical, disbelieving expression because of my heritage.  All I can do is shrug my shoulders and say “it is what it is.”

Andrea on the other hand, battles corn allergy with her youngest daughter, who is a perfectly adorable, normal two year old – until she is exposed to corn.  I witnessed how Blythe transformed from a laughing, precocious child to a screaming, rocking-back-and-forth child within minutes of eating soup that had corn by-products.  As soon as Andrea gave Blythe a dose of antihistamine, Blythe returned to laughing and playing.

As Andrea and I talked about the reactions and my own experience with corn, we realized that we are not the only ones battling corn.  Further, adverse reactions to corn is going to get worse as industries use corn products more and more.  We hope that some of our experiences and knowledge help you and your loved ones.  Just like any allergy, it is possible to enjoy corn and all the products that use corn, but in moderation.

Note: our intention is not to stop, hurt, hinder, or negatively impact the corn industry in any way, shape, or form.  We simply want to inform people, who may be noticing physical and emotional changes when they eat or are exposed to corn products.
